Kintaikyo Bridge and Iwakuni Castle

Last Monday we drove to Iwakuni City to do some sightseeing and to just get out of Ube for the day. It was about an hour and a half drive- but we found out when we got there that the left section of the bridge was closed due to damage from a recent typhoon. We were able to walk across most of it though- just not across the left side, where they were repairing one of the support beams.

We then took a gondola ride up the mountain to see Iwakuni Castle at the top. It is a small castle, but it had a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and the ocean.

The weather looks cold, but it was still hot and very humid that day!

Autumn Equinox

I had a fabulous weekend. Friday I got off work because of a national holiday here, which was cool. I still had to work on Saturday, but then I have Sundays and Mondays off normally. On Saturday night I went to an all night beach party in Tokuyama- which is about an hour and a half from where I live. There were a bunch of other foreigners there- which was cool, and a DJ. It was perfect weather- not hot and not really cold yet either. It was the closest thing to camping that I have done here so far- it was nice to spend the whole night outside.

These are some of my pics from last weekend. We to this big amusement place where they had bowling, karaoke, pool, and ping pong all in the same place. It was fun! When you go bowling here, you don't get your bowling shoes from someone behind the counter though, you pick your size on a machine and push a button and the shoes come out of the vending machine.

The next pics are from an Indian restaurant we went to- spicy Indian curry and Nan is soo good!

I still have more from sightseeing I did in Iwakuni last weekend- I will post them soon!

6-month Japanniversary!

Today! Crazy- I made it to the hump! I am halfway there. I just want to thank everyone who has sent me nice encouraging emails the last few months- keep them coming- I really appreciate them! It's still a ways off, but I have started to think about coming home, and I'm getting excited. I'm having a great time here and I'm not ready to leave yet, butI'm so excited at the thought of coming home! I'm sure in 6 months I will be ready-but I'm gonna have fun here until that time comes!

Below are a few pics of the big typhoon we had here a few weeks ago
